‘One of the best guitarists in the world...’ Pat Metheny

‘You’re great!’ Jimi Hendrix

No better way in our view to round off the season with a seasonal visit by the man himself, John Etheridge – one of the great guitarists and performers in world jazz, a view subscribed to not just by Metheny but so many of John’s peers (including this remark from Hendrix when John was starting out !!!).

John’s work needs little introduction but if you arrived from Mars recently, you might need to know that he worked in Soft Machine for many years, replacing Allan Holdsworth and almost over the same period was in the Stephane Grappelli Quartet. To work in one of those bands would be enough but to cover both guitar positions in such radically different groups and genres is testament to John’s genius on the instrument. In the last twenty years, he was produced a score of albums, toured and tore it up with the likes of Nigel Kennedy, Chris Garrick, The Soft Machine Legacy, Andy Summers and John Williams. A wonderful, engaging musician.
