Malay Tone Poem

Troyka are Kit Downes (Hammond organ and keyboards), Josh Blackmore (drums) and Chris Montague (guitar). This brilliant trio come to the club at the end of a two month tour across the UK and Europe with their new album Ornithophobia just out.

The band inhabit similar territory to Polar Bear and Acoustic Ladyland in this country and players such as Wayne Krantz in the States. The music is compelling, edgy and full of incident. Each of the musicians enjoys burgeoning reputations; Kit Downes was recently described by Time Out as 'one of the finest pianists of his generation' and has been working recently with the likes of Julian Arguelles and the HR Big Band in Germany. Chris Montague has played most of the major festivals in Europe alongside artists of the stature of Django Bates and Gwilym Simcock, and was described in Jazzwise magazine as 'mesmerisingly tender and stingingly explosive'!! Drummer, Josh Blackmore, is one of the leading contemporary drummers around - able to effortlessly blend jazz and contemporary dance based grooves, he studied at the Royal Academy of Music before going on to play with the likes of Gilad Atzmon, Seamus Blake and Tim Garland.

The band won the Parliamentary Jazz Award in 2014 for best album and are playing to sell out houses across the UK.  Book early for this one.
