Malay Tone Poem

Alexander Hawkins is a pianist, organist, and composer, recently labelled as ‘one of the most unique voices in contemporary music’, whose work has reached a ‘dazzling new apex’ (Downbeat, US).

His highly individual soundworld reconciles both his love of free improvisation and fascination with composition and structure. His Ensemble, his main project as bandleader, has been described as ‘one of the most vividly distinctive in contemporary jazz’.

Alex has developed a special creative relationship with one of the great drummers in world jazz,  Louis Moholo- Moholo, as well as being a frequent presence onstage and on record alongside other established masters such as Mulatu Astatke and Joe McPhee.

Joining Raf and Mark is another superb guitar player, Jez Cook. An evening of stunning solos and grooves across the repertoire.
